searching for the light, searching for 'Hollywood-light' 

Several years ago there was an exhibition of photographer Cecil Beaton in the National Portrait Gallery in London. Beautiful portraits with amazing light. Hard light, big contrasts, shadows on walls, shapes and lines are accentuated, mystery, drama. Especcially his early work inspired me to go and search for that light. The light that I call ‘Hollywood-light’.

This page shows the first pictures taken in this project. These pictures were taken of visitors of the ‘Kunstfietsdagen’ 2012.

Of course the photo’s are in black-and-white. Why? Because in portraits colours distract. In black-and-white one comes to the essence.
